That curiosity began when I was a young boy and received a telescope for my birthday. For the first time, the moon stopped being a distant shape in the sky and became something textured, imperfect, and quietly powerful. I’d spend hours looking up, drawn to its craters and shadows, aware that it was both familiar and unknowable.

‘Snow Moon’ grew from those early moments of looking skyward. Set against a deep, dark ground, the moon sits suspended - luminous, solid, and weathered by time. Its surface carries subtle variations that hint at age and distance, while white and black marks scatter across the canvas to represent snowfall caught mid-air.
The painting process was both physical and instinctive. Painting the moon first, when fully dry, this was carefully masked and then paint splashed, layered, and allowed to fall naturally, echoing the unpredictability of weather, gravity, and celestial movement. The contrast between dense darkness and fractured whites creates tension softened by stillness - much like stepping outside on a cold winter night when the world feels stripped back and honest.
