The effect was created by painting multiple 'ripple' like brush strokes and then a wash of blue and pink applied over the whole surface once dry. The visible brushstrokes suggests organic patterns and water ripples. It gives the feel that the viewer is underwater looking up, hence the title. Overall, the piece evokes turbulence and dynamic movement.
