I grew up in industrial South Wales, in steep valleys where terraced houses clung to hillsides and steelworks glowed orange against permanent grey skies. Industry shaped everything - the land, the air, the pace of life. That atmosphere lives in this work.
The palette comes directly from those memories: smoke-heavy blue-greys, coal-black shadows, sharp whites like steam and sparks, and rust-red marks that echo molten steel and warning lights cutting through soot and rain. These colours weren’t chosen for harmony - they were remembered.
Painted through movement and instinct, the surface was built in layers, allowing energy to collide and settle naturally. Up close, the marks feel raw and physical. From across the room, the chaos resolves into balance. Like the valleys themselves, pressure becomes structure.
