I have fond memories of growing up in the South Wales valleys, surrounded by industry, terraced houses, bridges, steel and concrete. At the time it all felt ordinary, but looking back there was a strong sense of structure running through everything.
‘Urban Echoes’ doesn’t recreate those places literally. Instead, it reduces them down to form, balance and atmosphere. Terracotta tones hint at weathered brick and metal, while darker elements anchor the composition and give it weight.
Repetition, interruption and layered geometric forms create a sense of rhythm throughout the surface. There’s structure here, but it never feels overly rigid or controlled, with subtle tensions and imperfect details keeping the piece alive.
From a distance, it feels bold and grounded. Up close, textures, marks and layered surfaces begin to emerge more gradually over time.
On the wall, it brings quiet structure and presence into a space without overwhelming it.
