This piece was inspired by a visit to the Pembrokeshire coastline, where cliffs shaped by time, weather and tidal movement reveal layers of fractured rock and shifting surfaces.
Rather than depicting the landscape directly, the painting became more about the forces at work within it - pressure, movement, erosion and release.
Blacks and greys form a dense, grounded base, while whites cut through the surface like exposed stone catching light. Diagonal streaks of blue introduce movement and rhythm, echoing water carving its way through rock over time.
The surface was built through layering, scraping and breaking paint across the canvas, creating textures that feel physical and energetic without becoming chaotic.
From a distance, the composition feels bold and structured. Up close, layered textures, marks and subtle shifts in colour begin to reveal themselves more gradually over time.
On the wall, it brings depth, movement and quiet strength into a space without overwhelming it.
