I often look up at the night sky and wonder about the sense of scale, distance and curiosity that exists beyond what we can see. There’s also a quiet nod to the familiarness and possibility captured in those classic sci-fi moments that stay with you long after childhood.
Rather than depicting space literally, the piece became more about atmosphere and movement. Deep blues and teals stretch across the surface like open space, while warmer bursts of orange, red and yellow cut through the calmer areas, suggesting energy moving through the composition.
Layered splashes, softer drifts and textured details remain visible beneath the surface, giving the painting depth without feeling overly controlled or fixed.
From a distance, the piece feels expansive and atmospheric. Up close, smaller details and shifting layers begin to reveal themselves more gradually over time.
