This painting grew out of a fascination with rainbows and the way light changes as it passes through water. That moment when colour suddenly appears where there was none before.
The composition plays with the idea of refraction, using oversized droplet-like forms to bend, distort and interrupt the shapes and colours beneath them. Strong yellows bring a sense of light breaking through the surface, while blues, purples and reds add depth, movement and energy throughout the piece.
From a distance, it feels bold and structured. Step closer, and the surface begins to shift. Drips, layered marks and overlapping colours create small moments of movement that continue revealing themselves over time.
The circular forms hint at water droplets without becoming literal, acting more like points where the painting subtly changes direction and rhythm.
On the wall, it brings brightness, movement and atmosphere into a space without feeling heavy, constantly changing depending on the light and how long you spend with it.
