This piece grew out of a trip to Iceland and the experience of standing near an active volcano, where the landscape feels alive beneath your feet. Heat, movement and stillness all existing together at the same time.
Rather than recreating the scene literally, ‘Molten’ became a response to that atmosphere and energy. Sweeping white marks move across darker earth tones and mineral-like surfaces, creating tension between movement and calm, intensity and balance.
The painting developed through a more instinctive process, allowing paint to spread, react and settle naturally across the canvas. Some areas were pushed further, others deliberately left unresolved, giving the surface a sense of depth and unpredictability.
Earthy browns, charcoals and ash-like tones keep the composition grounded, while sharper whites cut through like flashes of heat or light.
From a distance, the piece feels atmospheric and strong. Up close, textures and layered details begin to emerge more slowly over time.
On the wall, it brings presence, movement and quiet energy into a space without overwhelming it.
“A moment where earth breathes fire.”
