I remember being on holiday as a kid, couldn’t tell you where now, but there was a maze. A big one. The kind where you think you’ve cracked it, only to hit another dead end five minutes later.

I spent what felt like ages trying to get out of it.

Somewhere along the way, I must’ve decided I liked that feeling, because I’ve been drawn to mazes ever since. Even now, if there’s one nearby, I’ll end up in it sooner or later.

‘Labyrinth’ comes from that.

Not a literal maze, but that sense of being pulled in, trying to find your way through something that doesn’t quite give itself up all at once. The composition builds out of that idea, spirals, blocks, fragments that connect in some places and break apart in others.

It keeps shifting as you look at it.

The colour plays a big part. Purples, magentas, electric blues, all sitting close enough to feel connected, but with just enough contrast to keep things moving. Some areas draw you in, others push you back out again, so your eye never really settles in one place.

There’s a bit of tension in that, but it’s playful rather than heavy.

From a distance, it hits you as bold and energetic. Up close, it becomes more layered, spirals within spirals, shapes that feel like they lead somewhere but don’t quite resolve. It’s not about finding a single route through it, more about enjoying the process of getting a little lost.

In a space, it brings that same kind of energy. It adds movement, gives the eye something to work through, and tends to spark a bit of conversation without trying too hard. The geometry gives it structure, but the colour keeps it loose and lively.

It doesn’t sit quietly.

It invites you in, and the longer you spend with it, the more it reveals in small ways.

‘Geometry, mystery, and colour, a puzzle worth getting lost in’.
