Snow Moon

Complimentary worldwide shipping included. International orders are supplied rolled for safe transit.
I’ve always been drawn to the moon.
That really started when I was a kid and got a telescope for my birthday. Up until then it was just something you glanced at in the sky, but suddenly it became something else entirely, textured, marked, full of detail. Not perfect, not smooth, but quietly powerful in a way that’s hard to explain.
I’d spend ages just looking at it.
That sense of curiosity never really went away, and this piece grew out of those early moments of just standing still and looking up. Not trying to understand it, just taking it in.
The composition is built around that idea. The moon sits against a deep, dark sky. Around it, the white and black marks scatter across the canvas, suggesting snowfall caught mid-air.
There’s a stillness in it, but not a complete quiet.
The way it was made followed that same balance. The moon was painted first, then masked off while everything else was built around it, layers added, paint allowed to fall and move on its own. It wasn’t overly controlled, more about letting things happen and seeing how they settled.
That contrast between control and chance is what holds it together.
The darker areas give it depth, something to sit against, while the fractured whites break through and keep it from feeling too still. It has that same feeling you get on a cold night, calm, but with something just beneath the surface.
From a distance, it feels simple and quite striking. As you get closer, more begins to reveal itself, subtle variations in the surface, small marks that don’t stand out immediately but add to the overall atmosphere.
In a space, it brings a quieter kind of presence. It doesn’t need to dominate, but it tends to hold your attention anyway. There’s something familiar in it, but also something slightly out of reach.
That feeling of looking up and not quite knowing what you’re seeing, but wanting to stay with it a little longer.
‘Winter’s silence, etched in moonlight’.
